Easy And Healthy Breakfast Recipe | Dibba Rotti (Thin)

Easy And Healthy Breakfast Recipe | Dibba Rotti (Thin)

This is one of my favourite breakfast recipes and it surely has reason for it. Firstly, it is protein rich, easy to prepare and very filling. It has the perfect balance of softness and crispiness. The equal quantity of rice and dal gives it perfect texture. This is the recipe that gives south indian taste without fermentation which is an added benefit. This dish is inspired with a classic andhra recipe that is called dibba rotti, but it is thinner than that, so you can call it thin dibba rotti or cheela.

Urad dal is a very nutrient dense food, other than protein it is rich is iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium and folic acid. It is good for kids as well as pregnant ladies. This recipe needs the equal ratio of urad dal and rice which makes the double in comparison of any idli or dosa batter.

Few things that you need to keep in mind that use minimal water to grind the batter and secondly do not make a fine paste, the mixture should be coarse to get the perfect texture. Another good point of this recipe is that you get the crispy texture without using so much oil as it is thick it doesn't need that much of oil. If you don't want to use much oil you can surely just brush a little bit oil and make it but more oil makes it more crispy.

The normal textures of this rotti or cheela is thick and dense but if you want it to be lighter you can add a little bit of soda bi carb (baking soda) to the mixture to make it fluffier.
