Easy Beetroot Kanji Recipe
- 1 cup beetroot peeled and roughly chopped.
- 1 teaspoon salt.
- 1/8 teaspoon chilli powder.
- 1/8 teaspoon turmeric powder (optional).
- 1 tablespoon mustard seed powder.
- 4 cup water (boiled and cooled).
How to make Easy Beetroot Kanji
- Step-1
1. In a glass jar add the beetroot pieces. - Step-2
2. Add salt, chilli powder, turmeric and mustard seed powder. - Step-3
3. Add the water and stir well. - Step-4
4. Cover the jar with muslin cloth and leave it to ferment. - Step-5
5. After two or three days it will ferment, check if it is sour in taste, it is ready to serve.
Notes:
- Using boiled and cooled water reduces the risk of contamination so it is highly recommend.
- Roasted cumin powder can be used to enhance the flavour.
- You can also add 5-6 whole black peppercorns in the kanji.
- Once the kanji is ready consume it or keep it in the fridge else it will get more sour.
